That tears it.

Just whose side is the federal government on? Obviously, federal immigration laws aren’t a concern of theirs, but I never thought I’d see the federal government choose the side of lawbreakers over the citizens of this country. Unbelievable. Is there precedent for this? I mean, the Arizona immigration law is not unconstitutional–something these jackasses would know if they actually read it–so what’s really going on? Is this really a cynical bid for the imagined votes of the illegal demographic? Winning their loyalty before the mass amnesty that we all know is coming? That’s a pretty disgusting thought.

This should bother people, regardless of political bent. Arizona has the right to protect its citizens by securing its borders in compliance with the guidelines given in the Constitution. If the federal government decides to disregard Arizona’s right to do so–what does that mean? Is this the fight the Obama administration wants to start? Because there ain’t nowhere from here but down, and there’s no happy ending. Someone needs to tell Obama that he is not ruling, he’s leading. We are not subjects, we’re citizens. We are not to be subjected to the various whims and personal issues of our leaders.

The law, which criminalizes being in the state illegally and requires authorities to check suspects for immigration status, is not “good government,” Morton said.

First of all, it is illegal to be in this country illegally, right? I mean, that’s been on the books for ages, correct? So don’t act as if the Arizona law suddenly “criminalizes” something that was already a crime. Secondly, John, I don’t think you’d know “good government” if it slapped you in the face. Let me give you an example of bad government: Being so entrenched in partisanship that one cannot see the world in anything but “us” vs. “them.” I don’t know if Obama and his cronies understand this, but he was elected to lead everyone, not just the people he agrees with ideologically. Just because you’re in charge doesn’t mean you get to ignore the laws you don’t like, at least not in this country.

I don’t know about you all, but I’ve just about had it with this all this. Do your fucking job. Keep us safe. Lead us. We are not your subjects.

  1. I was under the impression that: the U.S. President, Vice-President, cabinet members, senior appointed officials, members of Congress, and members of the Supreme Court take the same sacred oath of office. If Morton, being a department head, did not take that oath Ms. Napolitano and the President certainly did. If she, or he, doesn’t force Morton to rescind his statement (with profound apologies) than the lot of them are guilty of some combination of treason, dereliction of duty, malfeasance, misfeasance and the establishment of a rogue government.

    • Of course.

But, according to the federal courts, we mere citizens lack “standing” to raise legal objections to their blatant violations of the Constitution.

      • If the lot spent not a day in court, let alone jail, it would still be sufficient (for me anyway) that history would forever recount their actions as a scandalous corruption worthy of its own appellation, like Tammany had, or Teapot Dome.

Maybe some enterprising soul could start a blog contest, now that the Draw Mohammed day has passed; Name the Obama epoch!

  2. Because representation in Congress is apportioned by population as reported by the Census, the illegal aliens don’t even have to vote to add to the political clout of the Partisans of the Ass. … This is one reason why the Partisans of the Ass are always trying to change the Census process/report from one of strict enumeration to one in which they can just pull numbers out of their Ass.

As for the political class of Mexico, and the Aztlan idea … Mexico is trying/intending to pull off this stunt.

  3. In Third Generation war, invasion by immigration can be at least as dangerous as invasion by a state army. – William S. Lind

Not that they all come up here with that intention, but mobs can do stupid things. Or people can get swayed to thinking other ways (like toward Atzlan). I mean, I don’t care that Machete has now been edited to be less of a race war — the Cinqo de Mayo trailer was pro-Hispanic propaganda meant to demoralize their enemy.

I just don’t understand how sane people can be for a porous border, especially when we have jus soli laws (a baby born on our ground is automatically an American citizen).

    • Apparently, a non-porous border is just…“not good government”, or so says the Asst Secretary of Homeland Security. My guess is Darrell would translate this as

“For our side to remain in power we need a lot more people voting for us, to swamp out the people we duped in 2008 that no way would vote for us again. Us being out of power is bad. If anything, we need more power in the hand of the president (wasn’t Woody thinking we would all benefit if he had dictatorial powers, if only for a year or two, and then he’d give those powers back), a more fluid interpretation of our Constitution and a lot more voter base. Legal immigration? Pfff. Anything that strengthens our power base is good. We don’t represent the people, we represent our power base. If it doesn’t expand our voter rolls, it ain’t good government”

From Morton’s point of view, he’s not representing you. He’s representing Obama.

      • In the same vein, who the Hell authorized ACORN and the $Billions of taxpayer dollars that have gone into supporting it for years? Did we vote for irt? Has it ever signed anyone up to vote for someone other than a Democrat? Did Roosevelt come up with a Constitutional Amendment that I’m not aware of? Must the Nation acquire new Democratic voters by Law? When all this became known only a few years ago, why weren’t people outraged? Sure, we knew there was an ACORN, but the public money?
Shouldn’t the Democratic Party reimburse taxpayers? What about the ACORN wing in India using US taxpayer money to restore India to its Socialist roots?

      • It’s nice to know our politicians have the right priorities.

        • It’s like our ship of state was sailing along when the damn purser grabbed the wheel and she struck an iceberg off the port bow. Water is pouring in, and the more it pours in the more she lists to the left. Though it may make the purser happy, the ship is going down, taking us all with it, leaving nothing but a little bit of debris floating on the surface where the ship once was, and the odd passenger, penniless, wet, cold and gasping for air.

          • Not only is she gaining water, but there are plenty of people actively dumping water into the ship because they are convinced she’ll float better upside-down.
