But instead the model on this poster, in Birmingham, has been defaced in an act of vandalism blamed on militant Muslims who were offended by her flesh.
Similar acts of vandalism have been carried out in the London borough of Tower Hamlets. Police there also believe extremists are responsible.
[. . .]
The freestanding advertising unit, stands in the Balsall Heath area of Birmingham, which has a large Muslim population.
Across the road from ‘Muslim Students House Masjeed’, an education centre, the poster is next to a busy main road.
The fact that almost all of the model’s flesh has been covered has led local residents to speculate that the vandalism was not random, but a religiously-motivated targetted attack.
It’s just a sign of the times, kids. Pretty soon H&M will be advertising the $4 burkhini at bus stops everywhere. I am not wearing that crap, even under threat of the sword. Ug-ly.

Discuss.
Obviously the work of Opus Dei
or someone wanting to smear the Muslims. Did anyone check if Mel Gibson was in London that day? Hmmm???
They should be more sensitive about the placement of such posters. Why did they ever post it so close to Mecca?
£3.99 seems like a lot. And I think that’s just for the top. Who would just buy a bikini top, anyway? I think once you’re in that far you’re pretty much committed to purchase the bottom as well. I’m telling ya, it’s a racket out there.
Well, it’s not your ordinary bikini top, for one–
Zip at the front and concealed silicone trim around the top. Lined cups. Nickel-tested
Nickel-tested for cryin’-out-loud! What a steal!

closing italics. My bad!
Of course, there’s no actual evidence that Muslims had anything to with this. The article just goes on the word of a ‘delivery driver’, who didn’t even witness the vandalism.
Perhaps a police officer can check the recording from one of those
ubiquitous cameras we’re always hearing about. Unless they don’t want to offend anybody.
And if it does turn out to be a Muslim, will you come back here and say that it’s
no big deal? I thought so.
Perhaps the police could, although I suspect they’d have rather more important things to do with their time.
All I was saying was that the entire Mail article was based on what one person thought based on no evidence whatsoever. I’d like newspapers to be a bit more thorough (and responsible) than that. After all, we’ve been here before – for example, the vandalising of a soldier’s house in Windsor was instantly – and wrongly – blamed on a ‘Muslim hate mob’ by the papers.
Also – if the person who did this wasn’t Muslim, I’d bet the Mail wouldn’t mention their religion at all.
They did say it was speculation and there is this–Across the road from ‘Muslim Students House Masjeed’, an education centre, the poster is next to a busy main road.
The spray paint also obliterated the face of the woman on the poster. Everyone knows punks would have added a mustache or drawn in an obscene image. Think what Dominique Gaston André Strauss-Kahn did in NY–without paint or crayon.
You have given yourself away with the bit about police having better things to do with their time. You do not wish the case to be solved so that you can simply blame people for drawing conclusions based on common sense/circumstantial evidence–the old “Racist!” accusation tactic of the Left. No wonder the Press can never think of a motive for a crime when a Muslim rushes the cockpit shouting “Allah Akbar!!!!”
Jumping to so many conclusions and so few of them accurate. I haven’t ‘given myself away’ about anything – I simply think the police have many better things to do than finding out who spray paints an advert. I’d be amazed if you didn’t agree with that?
‘You do not wish the case to be solved’ – I didn’t actually say that, did I?
Did I call anyone here racist? No.
Am I a leftie? Actually , no, but hey – don’t let that stop your ill-informed name calling.
Oh and did I ever actually say that a Muslim couldn’t have done this? Oh no, I didn’t, did I?
The police don’t have several minutes to look at a tape?
So few accurate? Maybe you could list them.
Saying a “leftist tactic” isn’t calling you a Lefty, is it?
Perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension skills. For instance, where do you get the idea that the whole case is based on the word of a delivery driver? Sure, they quote a man who just happens to be familiar with the area and is a delivery driver, but that not the entire basis for the speculation of Muslim involvement is the vandalism. Means, motive, and opportunity. Sure, people speculate–for good reason. The police do have a fiduciary responsibilty to investigate destruction of property, private or public.Who are you to say what is important? And if Muslims were not involved, that would be a good use of police time given the cost of taxpayers’ resources used to install all those cameras for just this reason. The Mail Online could then do a story on out-of-control yobs in Birmingham.
‘She was a loose cannon and they had to get rid of her,’ he said.
“She” was a loose cannon?
They “had” to get rid of her?
Ashtiaq was a loose cannon. Ishiaq was a loose cannon. Laura was not. She was a little teenage girl who had no idea how her two lovers actually viewed her as a person. Of the three, she was the only one with a sense of humanity.
Hey, what is this comment doing over here? I thought Nick posted you over there?
Nick’s pretty much amazing, Feste. I wish he would spend a little more time commenting over at my place.
And that–my friends–is what a psychotic break looks like.
I hope you enjoyed this little theater of the mind performance. Don’t forget your waitress.
: )
The comment there –mostly agreeing with the vandalism– when first posted were
even scarier to me.
Technically, to conform totally to Muslim law, ads couldn’t depict any human form in pictures or illustrations. H&M would have to use words (and numbers) only.
Freedom is lost like snow and ice disappearing in Winter. A molecule at a time.
