Classy and not so much.

Marco Rubio is such a class act. And he’s right. Both Gingrich and Romney are proponents of legal immigration as well as pretty soft on illegals. Gingrich is just not endearing himself to me right now. His entire ad campaign smacks of desperation.

I wish Rubio and Paul Ryan would run, honestly. That would be a dream ticket.

Completely unrelated, I don’t understand why Google needs to create a complete picture of me without my consent. I’m kind of screwed, because I have an Android phone that contains my entire life on one tiny SD card. I like it better than Apple, but if I were smart, I’d turn off my phone, disconnect my Kindle (also Android-based) and unhook my netbook from the wireless network.

But I love technology, and the convenience it offers, which is why I’ve given up my privacy by looking the other way as Google says one thing (“Don’t be evil”) and does the opposite. No wonder they give so much to Dems. They’re a natural match.

  1. I, too, am a fan of legal immigration. I’m pretty tired of being scared about small-but-escalating cases of diseases thought long ago vanquished. If people from other countries come knock at the door legally, I really have no problem with it.

It’s the illegals with which I have the problem.

And a guy that’ll fight the Muslim scourge? Cut the fed, perhaps in half? That’ll shut down the errant courts? Repeal ObamaCare? These things, and things like them might just make up for it. Newt’s that guy; Romney’s already made the mistake of creating a healthcare fiasco on the people of his state.

  2. It’s the same old trick. They give you choices and argue about them like they are different but they are pretty much the same. No matter who you pick, it’s more of the same but, you made the choice when there is not a choice. Newt and Romney are the same. Republican or Democrat, the result is the same. Hood winked is what they used to call it.

    • I hope you are a sincere commenter who is worth responding to, but here goes.
Republicans and Democrats, Left and Right, are not the same. The Left, Democrats, is trying to destroy this Nation and everything it has ever stood for, to create a world-wide socialist totalitarian state. That is why they are making the Unibomber’s Luddite manifesto National policy–shutting down conventional energy (or making it too expensive to consider) and shutting down business through new rules at the EPA and other regulatory agencies–or interpreting old rules in bizarre, restrictive ways. Oli Bama and the Forty Million Thieves will do anything to hold power so that they can have a sequel to finish what they started, to put through the big stuff this time when re-election isn’t an issue. The Republicans don’t have any quick fixes–other than disassembling what Obama built–because there aren’t any quick fixes. The Republicans got played by the Left for the last thirty years and the new deep hole that sits in place now will take years to fill. But the difference is that the Left/Democrats will keep digging.

      • It doesn’t really make any difference whether Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Barack Obama is the next president of the United States. The motivations of each party differ in stump speeches only. Yes, the Left has designs on the country and act upon it. Yes the GOP and ‘conservatives’ talk the good talk but ignore it when in power.

I find it difficult to imagine (let’s leave Obama out as we need not imagine in his case, we have a record) that Gingrich, Romney, or Santorum would refrain from spending more American lives facilitating regime change in some far off hell-hole or making some filthy black hole safe for theocracy. I find it hard to imagine that Gingrich, Romney, or Santorum wouldn’t bleat loud and long to raise the debt ceiling yet again and ad infinitum.
Not a one of them (nor either Party in Congress) would make any significant cuts to any significant government departments or doles. Not a one of them would attempt to do anything about legal and illegal immigration from Mexico or the pathology that is islam. I could go on but you get the picture.

As far as I can see the difference in the Parties is the GOP would take twice the time to achieve what the Left desires be done in half the time. That not a difference in beliefs, all talk to the contrary, it’s a difference in timetables.

        • I vote for the slower time table. Maybe we can buy enough time to make the save.

        • But I don’t mind regime changes, honestly. Sometimes they really need to happen and no one else has the balls to get their hands dirty.

          • Regime changes are wonderful on paper but seldom work in realpolitik and the prospects of such in islamic hellholes almost defies the odds. There is a convenient historical example to learn from – WW II. When the war ended, the US occupied both Germany and Japan for years. In Germany they spent much of that time hunting down Nazis, war criminals, sympathizers, et al, i.e., they understood the problem was not the German people but the murderous ideology.

In Afghanistan we have not so much occupied it as sat on it for a decade. We have made the liberal mistake of thinking the murderous ideology was not the problem but the people’s lack of things Western. After a decade, we have made Afghanistan safe for theocracy and we are now negotiating with and paying off the theocrats to behave themselves. God have mercy on the women, children, and dancing boys.

I should love an occasional regime change also but we are not up to it not so long as we will not recognize evil for what it is and are not prepared to wipe it out.

One last historical note. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk secularized Turkey and made a right decent nation of it. He made one mistake – having cleansed urban society, government departments and the army of islam, he didn’t wipe it out in the vast countryside. There it incubated and metastasized. Eighty years later Turkey is an Islamic nation once again and a pain in the ass, once again.

            Islam delenda est.

            • George, I agree with you that we have become so neutered that we are afraid to win wars. We refuse to do what it takes to effect real regime change and therefore it becomes a quagmire of epic proportions.

              Delenda est, indeed.

      • You are one of the reasons that we are in the shape that we are. Republicans and Democrats, Left and Right, are the same. The Left, Democrats, give our money to corporations through war and regulation and try to confiscate it for themselves so they can buy power from the poor. The right also finds a way to take our money so they can use it to stay in power with campaign donations. Bush gave our money to the banks and in the shadows created another $14 trillion of future indebtedness to them. They both are trying to destroy this Nation and everything it has ever stood for, to become part of the NWO. They both are members of a clean up crew that is trying to soak the last drop of value out of this country before it happens. In the meantime bankers paid for Obama’s inauguration. The emission controls, clear the air days, regulations, licensing, etc. are intended to help continue to use oil and pay more for it. It is all part of the looting. If the government was out of it, we would adopt cleaner cheaper energy. Libs and so called Cons are doing this.together no matter the regime change. The establishment used Obama to make sure that they keep power but they are still doing the same things.. The quickest fix is to get a real conservative in who lowers taxes, eliminates regulations and doesn’t sign things like the NDAA and Partriot Act and who doesn’t take $15 trillion from us and spend it..The population is being played by the lefyt and right who are the same..

        • I need to come back to this when I have a little more time, but I won’t insult your intelligence by acting like I care if you approve of my foreign policy views. Isolationism is a very, very dangerous thing, as is the belief in every conspiracy theory floating around out there about the “government”. I’d be remiss, however, if I didn’t point out that if the econazis and their progressive sympathizers would back off, we’d be almost completely independent of foreign oil. As for clean energy, efficient alternative energy that would keep us in the lifestyle we are accustomed to does not exist at this time and it isn’t the govt’s fault. Obama has done more than any other president to force “clean” energy on us and all we’ve got is this lousy Volt. Charging my car every 100 miles doesn’t sound like efficiency to me. And I won’t even get into what the making of those batteries does to the environment…

Like I said, I don’t have time for this right now, but I’m grateful for your input. It makes for good discussion here.

          • Your time shifting superpowers are quite impressive, Ms HG!
Now if you could only buy lottery tickets after they announced the numbers. . .

Just to clarify for readers, my reply is to Emmett, not April.

        • And the horse you rode in on and the boat you came over on.

Go back to your re-runs of Beavis and Butt-Head. The “there all the same!!!!eleventy-leventy”, “there is no difference bewteen good and evil,”
“the Left and the Right are all the same” crowd are the useful idiots the Left counts on. You guys allowed the takeover of the culture, the media, the schools and the courts and stopped any efforts to fight back. There is no left or right, there are only good people with different ideas. Right. I can tell that you swallowed the Kool-Aid with your ideas about energy, and your bias against crude oil and natural gas. I see another gallon or two of Kool-Aid in your belly with you statements about the environment. You know the facts are almost 180 degrees askew of your opinions, don’t you? No, of course you don’t. You say we need a true Conservative to fix things, but you apparently don’t know that such a person would be classified as “Right” by any of the accepted definitions. Great. Maybe you can tell us who you consider fits your definition of a real Conservative.
If only for shits and giggles.

    • I’m in agreement with yall. There’s very little daylight between Newt’s and Romney’s immigration policies and trying to pretend otherwise is stupid. I think Newt and Romney would both be weak presidents for different reasons. Newt is undisciplined and easily given to flights of fancy, and Romney is the “pragmatic” guy that the establishment wants but the rest of us hate.

I hate politics but I just can’t get away from it.

    • Looks like Darrell’s hopes were dashed.

      • I has my doubts when I saw that he was named after another famous clown,
Emmett Kelly. You can’t do much once the brain’s shot–as neurosurgeons say.
