So much.

Because they just love you so much.

I’m relieved Kilo lived, though I’m not surprised. Pit bulls have the strongest wills of any dog I’ve ever encountered, as well as an impressive capacity to set their own discomfort aside, especially when it comes to protecting their people. What the general public does not know is that pitties also live with the most wonderful, puppy-like joy even into their old age. They’re always puppies, and they are always your puppies. And they have really hard heads. Peter has crashed head-on into my knees at full speed playing dog tag with the other two enough times for me to know firsthand. Bullets don’t really have much of a chance against that.

I’m absolutely certain that one or more of my three dog pack would take on an armed burglar. I love them so much and could never imagine having any other breed. Well, I’ve imagined having a smarter breed, but you don’t get this kind of love and devotion from any other breed, let alone species.

Don’t bother to argue, cat people. You don’t count.

Jack. It took me 20 minutes to get him to sit still long enough to take this picture of his crazy eyes.

This is Lily. This is what Lily does all day long.

I’ve been trying to get a picture of Peter but he’s so wiggly. I’ll keep trying.
