It’s Bob freaking Woodward, people. I don’t always agree with him, but the man is an icon. He’s old-school journalism — obviously a lib, but without letting that get in the way too much. I respect the hell outta him.
Disrespect him at your own peril.
Yes, Bob Woodward is one of my favorite turds in the toilet bowl that modern US journalism (The nascent State-Run Media) has become. That’s all I can honestly say aboiut him. Yes, he attempts to say something that is true on its own merits from time-to-time, like Bill and Hillary weren’t perfect or that W had some things right. But he still throws two punches at Republicans for every one he directs at Democrats–even in telling Obama’s story. Did that before, too, in his books on Bill and Hillary. Woodward’s career took a hit when he was minimally honest with his treatment of Lib icons and demons, too. But I see that more as shtick, not professionalism or honesty. What has he said about all the crap we’ve seen in the Obama Administration–Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Holder’s lack of prosecution of the BPP poll thugs, Un-Constitution Presidential orders, The unauthorizated wars (like Libya) , the drone strikes, e.t.c., e.t.c? Not much from what I heard. The present day actions of this President threaten this Nation a lot more than Watergate ever did. No coverup is needed when you have a Press that only asks about how the golf game with Tiger went.
Woodward wasn’t a hero to me in Watergate, he was handed a story by a disgruntled FBI associate director (Mark Felt)–hardly a first-hand source (Nixon insider) as alleged. Woodward lied about the flower pot with the red flag used to signal “Deep Throat” and the marked-up copy of The NYT used to signal him: Woodward’s apt.faced a restricted courtyard not visible from the street and his New York Times was delivered in a bundle unaddressed, taken first-come/first served by subscribers in the building, on the honor system. Mentioning the NYT in his book was a nice touch for his future career, though, sure to get him a mention or two. Lucky for Woodward, the lib Press didn’t fact-check then, either, when the punch was directed at one of their enemies. John Kerry got away with his Winter Soldier BS because the Press never questioned how Nixon could have sent her to Cambodia when he hadn’t been inaugarated yet. Dick must have been trickier than anyone knew!
They don’t make icons like they used to. All the gold thread in the one I bought on Ebay is green already.
