More successful writers have a page like this full of blurbs from well-known writers and personalities. Me, I’ve got my superfab commenters and my mom. She says the nicest things about me.
I’ll add to this as I go.
“Then there are times I envision you as a high-tech Eris, rolling your apple down the table, and sitting back to watch the fun.”
–Cathy
“April is such a nice girl. And so smart! I’m not just saying that because I’m her mother.”
–Mom
“‘I am constantly in awe of April’s mental prowess. And she’s so beautiful. She’s really like a goddess.’ Wait! I didn’t say that! Shut up, April!”
–Piper
“The hottest Republican I know. Supersmart, funny as hell, and really, really hot. Did I say hot already?”
–Danni
You’re…well, something we used to say about a good soldier: “He’s _solid_.”
–Tom Kratman, author of Carnifex, the Tuloriad, A Desert Called Peace
“A cross between a delicate flower and the destroyer of worlds. Yes, she is so good that in a just world, you would be paying for a subscription just to read her words. And my mail and comments would have only seen the bottom of her waste basket ’til they took that final journey. Lucky us, we can enjoy her thoughts here and rest easy knowing that the electrons were well spent.”
–Darrell
“April hits the hot topics before anybody else & doesn’t pull her punches.”
–Wyobar, my sister in harpy-ness
“So as Steyn packs his bags for Canada; two young, female bloggers have picked up his White Banner of Surrender and are forging ahead in telling America ‘your [sic] fucked.’ Hyacinth Girl and Five Feet of Fury are – if not heirs then at least acolytes to the Mighty Steyn – enthusiastically spreading his message of unavoidable decline, inevitable catastrophe, and ‘it sucks to be you.’ . . . Hyacinth Girl is now an internet sensation, a conservative blogging goddess (she’s hot!), and worth millions after selling her rights to Universal for a planned movie trilogy that will be part documentary and part sci-fi drama, think Expelled crossed with The Matrix.”

Very entertaining ! Sporadic, sometimes jaded, but great stuff!
You’re sporadic! :)

A wonderful, eclectic lady whose unique outlook can make us go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
And she lives in Sandy Eggo!
Ed Driscoll: ‘The Cold Civil War’: “… In 2007, author William Gibson wrote the phrase the “Cold Civil War” for one of his science fiction novels. That led blogger April Gavaza, also known as the “Hyacinth Girl,” as well as Mark Steyn to pick up on the concept a year later. …”
I’m fairly sure that I also realized (before 2007, and before seeing someone else use the phrase), that we are having a “Cold Civil War.”
What I mean is that it’s not like it’s a difficult concept.
Thanks for pointing out my ability to recognize the obvious. ;)
It was meant as a statement about my ability to see the obvious.
I share Steyn’s pessimism about declining birth rates of the West. And I harbor a deep suspicion that the movie Idiocracy is more accurate than the public may realize. So in a hopeful (not for me, I’m married) tone, I ask–where is the dating/marriage status portion of this blog for April? The genes must be passed on so there’s hope for the future! So as my grandmother asked me when I turned 30, i ask April: “when are you going to settle down and have children?!”
Geoff, you’ll have to take that up with Mr. HG. April has a lovely daughter, her second child. My bet is that Mr. HG won’t be satisfied fouling off pitch after pitch just to stay in at the plate. Oh no. He’s looking to take it down town. Play a little long ball. Throwing around a little lumber. Dreaming of the fences and taking a big cut… getting some good wood on the ball, feeling the power as he hits that sweet spot…. the roar of the crowd…the place is going crazy… back…back…back….. oh my! Good bye Mr. Spalding!!
Sorry April.
: )
Awfully sorry! Just in the habit of encouraging all of our good conservatives to have more children! Someone has to offset the possibility that the Eight from John and Kate will all end up on the public dole. Congrats for your two children, and consider giving the world 3 more! If you’re not leaving a basketball team, you’re falling down on the job!
‘Yeah Barry’ under the header?
The Hyacinth Girl is getting pretty cheeky with the presumptive leader of the free world. I approve, highly!
Presumptive leader or not, can we not all agree that he’s the “Reader of the Free World?”
